Joanna is a junior majoring in biology and chemistry at SMU. Her extracurricular activities include her sorority Gamma Phi Beta, horseback riding, and her job at Katy Trail. While in elementary school, Joanna set her goal of being a veterinarian; since 12 years of age, she has volunteered or been employed in some capacity at an animal hospital. She dreams of someday practicing veterinary medicine in a small town in Colorado.

She is one of two children. The Chihuahuas, Tiffany and Bandit, live with her in an apartment in Dallas, and her cockatiel, Sunny, lives in McKinney with her mother.
